One hundred years is plenty of time to stockpile enough tradition and accumulate enough gravitas to inspire a formidable history, a history that is a tall order to pay homage too. Nevertheless, Rapha has done just that with their La Centième Collection.
Available now, the La Centième Collection features the same design across the lineup—centered around a mosaic pattern with each square representing one of the tour’s past winners with a symbol that pays tribute their nickname or the region which they hailed from. However, this homage to the tour wouldn’t be complete without involving some means of getting on your bike and suffering, er, riding.
As such, Rapha has gone and thrown down the gauntlet with its Rapha Rising La Centième challenge on Strava.
Challenging riders to climb the equivalent of the Peyresourde, Ventoux, Sarenne and Alpe d’Huez from sea level to summit, or just under 24,000 feet—the La Centième challenge seems like a perfect way to celebrate the 100th Tour de France.
