John Behrens, an active member of the Southern California cycling community, was recently involved in a car vs. cyclist incident that caused him to suffer from a couple broken vertebrae, shattered pelvis, punctured lung, broken ribs, and a bruised kidney and spleen. So far he has been in the hospital under sedation for a week and has undergone two major surgeries on his neck and pelvis.
