Cannondale Goes to Hollywood: 2013 Cannondale Pro Cycling Team Presentation

Cannondale Chooses Tinseltown to Launch the Fresh Face of Cannondale Pro Cycling

“Now with 100-percent less gas, please welcome Cannondale Pro Cycling…”

My inner monologue may not have matched exactly with Bob Roll’s opening remarks at the 2013 Cannondale Pro Cycling team presentation, but I’ll tack that up to the open bar and the perfectly surreal experience unfolding before me. Following the departure of long-time sponsor, Liquigas, Cannondale upped their investment in the top tier of the sport and replacing Liquigas as the team’s title sponsor, and thus necessitating a bit of a name change for the team.

Held at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, the event was certainly not lacking in production value. With the bass from the introductory video easily filtering through thin-soled dress shoes throughout the theater, it would have been hard to distinguish the scene from the opening night of some summer blockbuster—had it not been for the plentiful spandex and resolute lack of leg hair on stage.

Making great use of the Tinseltown theme, the night’s presentation was surprisingly entertaining, falling right in line with Cannondale Global Manager Bob Burbank’s opening statement, “We have a really great opportunity to change cycling…we want to make cycling fun.”

Well, with personalities like Peter Sagan on board, fun should never be in short supply. Here’s to hoping we get some more videos like these from the Cannondale Pro Cycling camp throughout the year.
