Ferrous Friday | Mosaic Cycles RS-1
Mosiac Cycles may be relatively new to the world of bespoke bicycles, but head builder Aaron Barcheck certainly isn’t.
Working his way up to the position of lead builder at Dean Titanium Bicycles, Barcheck certainly had a few welds under his belt before leaving Dean too start his own marque in 2009.
For this installment of Ferrous Friday, we have the latest addition to the Mosaic Cycles Line up, The RS-1. Comprised of True Temper S3 tubing, this frame is built using TIG construction, and according Kevin Batchelor of Mosaic, “strikes an incredible balance between that great steel feel, and high performance.”
When all the welds have cooled, a typical RS-1 frame weighs 2.75lbs and when equipped with and Enve 1.0 fork and Chris King headset, the module tips the scales at an exciting 4 pounds on the dot.
As built, this collaboration with Above Category Cycling of Marin, California (one of our favorite shops in the Bay Area), weighs in at feathery 14.7lbs. Not to shabby for a steel frame, eh?
